CAIDA
describes a flow as "a uni-directional traffic stream with a unique
[ source-IP-address, source-port, destination-IP-address, destination-port,
IP-protocol, TOS, input interface ID] tuple." Flow records are collected
from Northwestern University routers for analysis to help in planning and
troubleshooting the network infrastructure. From here you can view a few
of the summary reports and graphs based on these flow records. This site
is run by the Telecommunications
and Network Services (TNS) group within the
Northwestern University
Information Technology (NUIT) division.
The data is collected, analyzed and graphed using freely available tools
such as flow-tools,
FlowScan,
CUFlow,
and other custom tools and scripts, some built and maintained by the TNS
staff.
